Photo Gallery - Belarus Visit 2006
From time to time and at their own expense, supporters from the Link will travel to Belarus to see conditions for themselves and visit some of the children previously hosted. The following photographs were taken in 2006.

Many village houses have no running water and rely on roadside wells like this one.

A lot of the children are still growing up in quite poor and cramped living conditions.

One of the 96 children abandoned by their mothers and now living in a Baby Home.

Our Link supporters paid for five-year old Olga to go into the Recuperation Centre.
Zdhanovichi Recuperation Centre on the outskirts of Minsk, can accommodate about 300 children at a time. Most of them come from areas in Belarus that are still largely contaminated. Olga’s big sister Irina (holding her hand) had already been hosted by our Link and came with her mother and grandmother to ask for our help. Olga needed an operation for a kidney problem, followed by convalescents in the Centre.
Her family were too poor to pay for this and as living conditions at home were very basic we appealed for extra funds from our supporters who paid for 21 days of care.

We meet some of the children again.

We are guests of honour in every house we visit.

Hot water runs from a central boiler feeding each home.
